This Privacy Policy explains how AviAlert ("AviAlert", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information. AviAlert is provided by 663081 BC LTD (doing business as gearheadlabs).

1. Overview

AviAlert is an offline-first mobile application. Most information you create in the app is stored locally on your device. We do not operate user accounts at this time and we do not provide server-side storage for your personal content.

2. Information We Collect

A) Information you provide

Support communications: If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.

B) Information stored on your device (local)

AviAlert may store locally on your device:

  • Saved forecasts and related notes
  • Plans, routes, waypoints, tracks, recons, drawings, offline map selections, and settings
  • Calibration values (e.g., pressure/altitude reference points) and other instrument/tool preferences

C) Device and app diagnostics (optional)

AviAlert uses Firebase Remote Config to manage feature flags and app configuration. This service may process basic device metadata (such as app version and OS version) as part of its operation. AviAlert does not currently integrate a third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK. Apple and Google may independently collect app diagnostics if you have opted in to share diagnostics with them through your device settings.

D) Location (optional)

If you enable location services, AviAlert may use location for map features and calibration tools. Location permission is optional. We do not sell location data.

E) Purchases and subscriptions

If you purchase a subscription, payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status across platforms. RevenueCat receives your anonymous app user ID and subscription status from the app stores, but does not receive your name, email, or payment details.

F) AI features (if enabled)

If you use in-app AI features, your prompt text may be sent to a third-party AI provider (such as OpenAI) for processing. We do not store the content of your prompts on our own servers, but the third-party provider may process and temporarily retain the data in accordance with its own policies.

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide app functionality and store content on your device
  • Respond to support requests
  • Improve app stability, performance, and usability
  • Operate subscriptions and restore entitlements

4. Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information with necessary service providers, including RevenueCat (subscription management), Firebase (app configuration), OpenAI (AI features), and MapTiler (map tiles and weather data).

5. Data Retention

  • Local app data (forecasts, tracks, routes, settings, etc.) is stored only on your device. It is retained until you delete it within the app or uninstall the app.
  • Support emails: If you contact us by email, we retain those messages for as long as necessary to resolve your inquiry and for our records. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 6).
  • Subscription status: RevenueCat retains your anonymous subscription record for as long as your subscription is active. After expiration, RevenueCat may retain the record in accordance with its own data retention policy.
  • AI prompts: If you use AI features, prompt text is sent to the third-party provider for processing. We do not independently store your prompt content. The provider may temporarily retain data in accordance with its own retention policy.
  • Firebase Remote Config: Firebase may process basic device metadata during configuration requests. This data is governed by Google's privacy and retention policies.

6. Your Choices and Data Deletion

  • Location: You can enable or disable location access at any time in your device settings.
  • Manage subscriptions: You can manage or cancel your subscription through Apple ID settings (iOS) or Google Play subscriptions (Android).
  • Delete local app data: All locally stored data (forecasts, tracks, routes, settings) can be removed by deleting content within the app or by uninstalling the app from your device.
  • Delete off-device data: To request deletion of any data we may hold outside your device (such as support emails or your RevenueCat subscription record), contact us at hello@avialert.com. We will action deletion requests and confirm completion by email.
  • Privacy questions: For any other privacy-related questions, contact us at hello@avialert.com.

7. Children

AviAlert is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy; the effective date will reflect the latest version.
