This Privacy Policy explains how AviAlert ("AviAlert", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information. AviAlert is provided by 663081 BC LTD (doing business as gearheadlabs).

1) Overview

AviAlert is an offline-first mobile application. Most information you create in the app is stored locally on your device. We do not operate user accounts at this time and we do not provide server-side storage for your personal content.

2) Information we collect

A) Information you provide

  • Support communications: If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.

B) Information stored on your device (local)

AviAlert may store locally on your device:

  • Saved forecasts and related notes
  • Plans, routes, waypoints, tracks, recons, drawings, offline map selections, and settings
  • Calibration values (e.g., pressure/altitude reference points) and other instrument/tool preferences

C) Device and app diagnostics / analytics (optional but recommended)

To improve reliability, performance, and product decisions, AviAlert may collect app diagnostics and analytics such as app version/build, device model, OS version, crash reports, performance metrics, and feature usage events (e.g., which screens are opened). These diagnostics may be collected via Apple-provided mechanisms and/or third-party SDKs. We aim to minimize data collected and use it only to improve AviAlert.

D) Location (optional)

If you enable location services, AviAlert may use location for map features and calibration tools. Location permission is optional, but some features may be limited without it. We do not sell location data.

E) Purchases and subscriptions

If you purchase a subscription, payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive your full payment details (such as your credit card number). We may receive subscription status signals (e.g., active/inactive entitlement) through our subscription provider.

F) AI features (if enabled)

If you use the in-app AI guide or AI-assisted features, your prompt text may be sent to a third-party AI provider for processing. We recommend you do not include sensitive personal information in those prompts. We may log minimal metadata needed to operate and rate-limit the feature.

3) How we use information

  • Provide app functionality and store your content on your device
  • Respond to support requests
  • Improve app stability, performance, and usability (diagnostics/analytics)
  • Operate subscriptions and restore entitlements

4) Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with service providers as needed to run the app, such as subscription management, crash reporting and analytics, and weather/mapping/forecast data providers. These providers process data under their own privacy policies and terms.

5) Data retention

  • Local app data is stored on your device. If you delete the app, local data may be removed.
  • Support emails are retained as needed to respond and maintain records.
  • Diagnostics/analytics are retained for a limited period consistent with operational needs.

6) Your choices

  • You can enable/disable location services in device settings.
  • You can manage subscriptions in Apple ID settings.
  • You can contact us with privacy questions at hello@avialert.com.

7) Children

AviAlert is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8) Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. The effective date above will reflect the latest version.
